MEQUON, Wisc. – February 8, 2018 – After years of advancing its clients’ businesses by introducing next-generation technology-enabled solutions powered by big data, SKYGEN announced its own significant business advancement to form one unified company. Under the single SKYGEN brand name, the company will create innovations that help commercial and government-sponsored healthcare payers make benefit management more efficient and cost-effective through automation and digital capabilities. These advancements will also elevate healthcare experiences for providers, members and other stakeholders.

The organization has launched an initiative to unite its Family of Companies – Wonderbox Technologies, Scion Dental, Vestica Healthcare, and Ocular Benefits – under the SKYGEN brand. The brand evolution was ignited by a significant expansion of markets and product offerings that address the most pressing needs of healthcare stakeholders, including payers, state agencies, managed care organizations (MCOs), and providers. The single SKYGEN operating model will greatly improve the company’s ability to deliver a broader portfolio of Software as a Service (SaaS), Business Process as a Service (BPaaS), on-demand solutions, and professional services to its government and commercial payer clients.

“The move to a united organization will make it easier for clients and prospects to understand who we are, what we do, and how to partner with us for their dental, vision, and medical lines of business,” said Craig Kasten, chairman and co-founder of SKYGEN. “It will also improve our ability to help our clients achieve greater operational excellence while delivering measurable results. From the beginning, our mission has been to lead the healthcare industry throughout the digital age. Unifying our various companies under one SKYGEN enables us to create infinite possibilities for helping stakeholders to move confidently into the future.”

A heritage of innovation

SKYGEN has long been viewed as a leader and driver of innovation for Medicaid and commercial dental benefit programs. Its flagship Enterprise System technology platform, historically sold under the Wonderbox Technologies brand, and third-party dental benefit administration services that have been managed under the Scion Dental brand, have elevated the ability of payers and MCOs to deliver continuous automation, analytics, and access to care. These capabilities enabled payers to do a better job of delivering higher-quality dental benefits while lowering costs and continuing to serve as good stewards of taxpayer dollars.

Yet the Enterprise System was designed from the beginning to enable all stakeholders to use a single technology platform to manage commercial and government-sponsored benefits across all market segments rather than the fragmented approach typically used. Consolidating its individual companies under one SKYGEN fulfills the company’s long-term vision of transforming the delivery of health benefits for the digital age.

Expanded offerings

The new, consolidated SKYGEN will not only re-align the company’s existing offerings under a single brand, it will also introduce an expanded portfolio of on-demand solutions and professional services that reflect the needs of a rapidly evolving marketplace.

For example, the organization is investing in a broader offering of on-demand solutions for provider data management and revenue cycle management. Provider Data Management, such as the previously released SKYGEN Credentialing Service that enables “one and done” entry and management of provider network data, helps healthcare payers strengthen provider network management and relationships while lowering costs, improving provider satisfaction, and speeding delivery. The Revenue Cycle Management solution will deliver lower costs, new revenue streams, and faster revenue cycles to healthcare payers and their providers. All on-demand solutions will be available as individual components that can be integrated into a payer’s or MCO’s current technology platform to solve specific issues rather than requiring a complete rip-and-replace of the core system.

The company has also expanded its portfolio of professional services, such as its Enhanced Benefit Management (EBM) offering, that take advantage of its great wealth of knowledge and experience to solve the most pressing problems payers and providers are facing. EBM uses the industry’s most sophisticated big data analytics to delve deeply into the factors that affect the total cost of delivering quality care, such as provider performance, benefit plan design, and reimbursement strategies.

SKYGEN’s Value-Based Contract Administration and Strategic Consulting services help healthcare organizations ease the transition to value-based care. SKYGEN understands this transition requires rethinking the way healthcare is delivered, which means restructuring to create a coordinated community where all parties share responsibilities, risks, costs, and rewards. Healthcare stakeholders may attempt to tackle this shift from volume to value with manual processes or niche technology, but deep change demands a coordinated solution, powered by integrated technology, that advances the most influential aspects of healthcare delivery: cost intelligence, quality outcomes, and service excellence. This thinking, and the focus on removing barriers to collaboration, is reflected in the company’s new structure.

Additionally, the company will continue to invest in solutions that assist payers and providers with critical initiatives such as care coordination, population health management, and advanced analytics.

Ensuring a smooth transition

The transition to one SKYGEN will occur over several months beginning in early 2018. It will be phased in across all aspects of the business, including technology, operations, client service, and member-facing services.

“While we are making significant changes across all aspects of the organization, one thing that will not change is our dedication to our employee core values of Respect, Ownership, Innovation, and Integrity. They are what make us who we are,” said Greg Borca, co-founder of SKYGEN. “We will continue to help payers be the best possible stewards of taxpayer dollars and reinvent Medicaid administration to improve efficiency, allocate more dollars to care, and improve the quality of peoples’ lives. We will continue to deliver the best possible experiences for providers and members. We will continue to deploy the world’s greatest technology-enabled solutions to help clients create efficiencies while reducing costs. Most importantly, we will continue our dedication to powering the business of healthcare throughout the digital age.”
