Menomonee Falls, Wis., Sept. 16, 2019 – SKYGEN today announces expanded connectivity capabilities of its industry standard Enterprise System software as a service (SaaS) benefits automation platform, allowing its insurer clients to reduce time and expense of sharing data among their business systems while increasing data quality. The Enterprise System will now be available with a Representational State Transfer (RESTful) API, a switch from the previous Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) API, making it even more extensible, flexible and secure.
Version 1 of the RESTful API will provide real-time, two-way data exchange between the Enterprise System and other business functions, such as customer service, billing and collections, reporting and analytics, e-commerce, or other constituent tools and portals. The Enterprise System’s previous SOAP API allowed read access to Enterprise System data by other business functions, but the new RESTful API enhances data exchange to include both read and write capabilities.
With the new API framework, when benefit data is changed by other business systems, it will be automatically and securely updated in the Enterprise System – in real time – making the new benefit data available immediately to other users and constituents throughout the insurer’s benefits administration operations. The RESTful API is secured with the OpenID industry standard security framework, creating a highly secure interface that is easy to integrate into existing security frameworks.
“With this new RESTful API, we are significantly streamlining integration with other business systems by increasing automation and removing redundant, manual processes. The net result for our customers is increased efficiency, greater data accuracy and increased satisfaction for both internal and external constituents.” said Darrin Haehle, chief technology officer at SKYGEN. “This is another example of our commitment to power dental and vision benefits administration with technology that streamlines the flow of information and reduces costs.”
The Enterprise System’s RESTful API capabilities and practical benefits for dental insurers will be a session presented by SKYGEN Product Executive, Julie Gau, at 11 a.m. on Tue., Sept. 17 in the Discovery Zone at the National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) CONVERGE 2019 conference, at the Omni Orlando Resort in ChampionsGate, Fla.
To kick off NADP CONVERGE, SKYGEN is sponsoring the opening reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 16 in the Ballroom Commons. In addition, SKYGEN Vice President, Dental Benefits Management, Marcel Tetzlaff, and CareSource Dental Director, Dr. Judy Greenlea Taylor, will share how analytics and value-based models can give “teeth” to dental plans in a learning session taking place from 10:45 a.m. to noon on Wed., Sept. 18.
Tetzlaff and Dr. Greenlea Taylor will share their insights on how the dental industry can respond to continued cost pressures with analytics and value-based payment models. The learning session will examine how to use analytics to improve benefit design, identify high-performing providers and direct more members to those dentists.
“Analytics improve benefit design, allowing dental professionals to identify high-performing providers and direct more members to those dentists,” says Tetzlaff. “At NADP CONVERGE, we look forward to sharing how to use analytics to recognize these providers, remediate under-performing ones and begin using value-based models to help drive them toward delivering more appropriate preventative services. This gives them the opportunity to earn more revenue without committing to raising fee schedules across the board.”
